If your organization is using Qubole, your account has already been configured by your administrator. Here is how you can get started:

  • Check your profile: Go to the My Profile tab, verify your details, and change the default password.

  • Check your accounts: Go to the My Accounts tab and verify your account information. As Qubole implements role-based access control (RBAC), every user is assigned to a group that subsequently assigns them a role. Every role specifies a set of policies that define access to features and resources.

The My Accounts tab displays the group(s) you belong to and the role(s) assigned to you. If you need any additional access, contact your system administrator.

    Note

You can belong to more than one Qubole account. For each account, you may have a different set of permissions.

  • Check availability of data: Once you have confirmed your account details and access permissions, Qubole recommends checking the available metastores and data store connections using the Explore page. If you need to access additional data or add a data store, contact your system administrator.

  • Check your clusters: Go to the Clusters page and check the available clusters. A new account is pre-configured with three clusters - Spark, Hadoop, and Presto. Your system administrator manages the existing clusters and can configure additional clusters. They can also restrict cluster access to specific accounts or users. Verify the clusters that are available to you.

  • Explore the Workbench, Notebooks, and Scheduler pages: Execute a command from the Workbench page, and explore the collections and commands run by other users. Go through the example notebooks, copy and modify them as needed, and execute or schedule one from the Notebooks page. You can also schedule a test command or workflow from the Scheduler page.

  • Check your usage: Check your platform usage from the Usage page. Besides the QCU reports, this page also provides insights and recommendations.
